Here’s what This Is Us fans predict for Kevin and Sophie in season 2

What’s next for Kevin and Sophie in Season 2 of This Is Us? An engagement? A baby? A split? Well, fans have some predictions.

When we last left Kevin and Sophie in the Season 1 finale of This Is Us, the childhood sweethearts and recently rekindled ex-spouses were headed for another separation. Despite putting those three romantic sentences into overdrive and winning back his former wife, Kevin headed off to Hollywood to film a war film with Ron Howard. But where does that leave their relationship?

We posed this very question on Twitter, and This Is Us diehards turned up in droves to voice their opinion. In a poll, we asked fans what they predicted for Kevin and Sophie in the upcoming second season. Would they be temporarily splitting, getting re-engaged, having a baby, or tying the knot in a surprise wedding? Even though a temporary split seems most plausible given Kevin’s absence while starring in a blockbuster, let’s not forget that Alexandra Breckenridge has joined the cast as a series regular. Oh, fans didn’t forget, and they have high hopes.

With 21% of the vote from 2,198 votes, “temporary split” came in dead last. Clearly, fans aren’t ready to give up on Kevin and Sophie. Next up, 23% of the vote went to an engagement and 24% of vote went to a surprise wedding. As you can see, this was as close a race as they come.

But the leading prediction for Kevin and Sophie in Season 2 of This Is Us is… a baby on the way! Disclaimer: In no way, shape, or form has a child for Kevin and Sophie been teased by the cast or crew. We’re not here to start rumors or spread false spoilers. The fans have simply spoken, and this is their crowd-sourced hope for Kev’s future.

A baby certainly isn’t too far out of the realm of possibility, as Breckenridge recently announced that she’s expecting her second child with husband Casey Neil Hooper. It would also make for an interesting development since Beth and Randall will be in the process of adding to their family and, not to mention, Kate could be marrying Toby sooner than later.

However, a few fans pointed out in the comments that none of the above options could happen, or one potential milestone could happen exclusive of the others. For example, Sophie could become pregnant, but that’s not to say that their relationship will withstand the long distance or the long haul. And who’s to say more than one of these options aren’t on the docket?

Well, there you have it, folks. The fans have spoken, and they want to see Kevin and Sophie have a baby in Season 2 of This Is Us. After their whirlwind romance, the dissolution of their marriage, and against-all-odds reconciliation, welcoming a child would make for the sweetest story. Just try to imagine Kevin Pearson as a father and attempt to not melt.
