Jermel Nakia speaks out about getting to play young William on This Is Us

Jermel Nakia plays the role of young William on This Is Us. This is a very important role and he is now speaking out about getting to play this role.

The fans of This Is Us met William when Randall got the chance to meet his real father. Even though the character has already passed away, they are now showing William in the past and letting viewers get to know him on a deeper level.

Jermel Nakia plays the role of young William and he recently spoke to People to share his thoughts on playing this role on such a hit show. He may be a newcomer, but he feels like he has found the perfect role. Here is what he had to say.

"“I still live in that moment of, ‘Is this really happening.’ From the first time I saw a clip of the pilot, I knew the show was right down my alley. It’s surreal.”"

This is Jermel’s first large role, but he has been doing plays since he was just in the third grade. He explains that acting chose him. The fans of This Is Us enjoy watching him play the role of young William and understand why he feels this way. He went on about why he loves playing this character.

"“It’s really incredible because we can capture the hyper sensitive state of the black man and what is happening now. When I first read the episode I just thought, this requires huge responsibility. To be able to bring [William] to life was mind-boggling.”"

Jermel Nakia did admit that even though he is on the show This Is Us he doesn’t ever get a chance to act with the other big names on the show. When he is playing William in the past, they were not involved with him yet, but it is still a great character to play.
