Haven’t you heard? From starring in This Is Us to landing her first movie role and writing a book, 2018 is going to be known as the year of Chrissy Metz.

More from This Is Us

It’s strange to think that almost two years ago, no one really knew who Chrissy Metz was. Although she had guest roles in shows like My Name Is Earl and American Horror Story, she had yet to star in NBC’s This Is Us and therefore breakout into the big time. However, in what feels like an instant, Metz has become a household name, and in 2018, she’s coming to take over Hollywood.

On top of starring in network television’s most buzzworthy drama series, one that put the Big 4 networks back on the map with the major awards, Chrissy Metz will soon extend her Pearson fame into a fruitful career full of movies, books, and stage plays. It’s about time that the breakthrough star of This Is Us earned her deserved place in the industry, bringing her talents to more projects that will surely make us smile and cry. 2018 will prove to be Chrissy’s greatest year of achievement, and we couldn’t be more excited to watch her shine. For these four reasons, we’re currently living in the year of Chrissy Metz.

1. She’s starring in her first movie.

Prepare for Chrissy Metz to give your tear ducts a workout on the big screen rather than the small screen! Metz will star in her first leading role of a feature-film, which begins production this March. Based on Joyce Smith’s faith-based book of the same name, The Impossible follows the miraculous recovery of a boy who was left lifeless after falling in an icy lake. Metz will play his mother, and we’re definitely going to need our This Is Us tissues for this one.

2. She wrote a book.

If you love being inspired by Chrissy Metz’s confidence and transparency, then you need her upcoming memoir titled This Is Me: Loving the Person You are Today and on shelves March 27. The book will dive into personal stories from Chrissy’s life, including body positivity, struggles with her biological father, and all of the behind the scenes secrets about her rise to fame. Without a doubt, This Is Me will be like sitting down and talking to Chrissy herself, and it’s a must-have for all This Is Us fans.

3. She’s performing in a play.

Proving that she can take her acting talents further than the small screen and the big screen, Metz will soon headline a stage revival. She star in a new production of Neil LaBute’s play Fat Pig at Los Angeles’ Geffen Playhouse. In an Instagram post (featured above), Chrissy expressed her excitement for taking on the theatre role, saying that starring on stage “scares the heck” out of her. But we know she’s going to positively bring the house down and star in more productions to come!

4. She won an award.

Along with the entire cast of This Is Us, Metz took home the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Can you say well deserved? After being nominated for Emmys and Golden Globes, the cast of This Is Us finally earned their due recognition. Chrissy Metz is a Screen Actors Guild Award winner, and we can only predict that there’s much more hardware in her future. Next stop, Emmys!
