This Is Us fans take to Twitter to welcome new cast member

As soon as the news broke Michael Angarano will be playing Nicky Pearson on This Is Us, fans of the show flooded Twitter to express their excitement and to show their support.

Angarano is no stranger to the spotlight. The Brooklyn-born actor and newest This Is Us cast member,30, played 11-year-old Wiliam Miller in Cameron Crowe’s semi-autobiographical hit film, Almost Famous (2000). Angarano’s list of credits also include: Music of the Heart, Cover Me: Based on the True Story of an FBI Family, Little Secrets, Sky High, The Knick and I’m Dying Up Here.

Most people may recognize Angarano as Elliot, Jack McFarland’s (Sean Hayes) son on Will & Grace — a role he reprised in the reboot. What This Is Us fans may not know is that Angarano was one of three finalists up for the part of young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace.

Initially, producers decided to keep the identity of the actor playing Nicky a secret, but Deadline broke the news following a For Your Emmy Consideration event on Monday, August 13.

Angarano should fit in on set since he has three siblings, two sisters and a brother (another Big Three). This also isn’t the first time Angarano has shared screen time with Milo Ventimiglia. Both men appear in 2015’s Wild Card.

Angarano expressed his excitement over his new gig in a tweet, and NBC urged everyone to welcome the actor into the Pearson family fold.

Cast, crew and fans alike were happy to oblige.
