This Is Us’ Mackenzie Hancsicsak sold Girl Scout cookies at SAG awards

This Is Us actor Mackenzie Hancsicsak didn’t just take away a SAG award Sunday night, she also sold Girl Scout Cookies at the event.

While the cast of This Is Us can proudly celebrate their win Sunday night for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, there are some cast members who have even more to celebrate. 10-year-old actor Mackenzie Hancsicsak, who plays young Kate Pearson in ther series, took the high volume event as an opportunity to sell Girl Scout Cookies. What better way to raise money for an important educational organization? After all, no one can resist thin mints and samoas and what better group to sell to than the rich and generous SAG award nominees and guests? I’m betting Hancsicsak will take home the award for most cookies sold at her next Girl Scouts meeting.

Hancsicsak used social media to advertise the sales opportunity to her fellow guests, telling them to come see her at table 34. Her co-star Parker Bates posed alongside her with a box of Samoas. The Girl Scouts tweeted at Hancsicsak, wishing her luck and applauding her initiative. “Good luck to you and the incredible cast of @NBCThisisUs!! We will be watching and cheering for you.” The cast of This Is Us already feels like one big, happy family, but selling Girl Scout Cookies together really seals the deal. And she looked stylish doing it!

As it turns out, she had plenty of luck on her side. This is the second year This Is Us has won the SAG Award for Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama Series, beating out strong contenders like Ozark, The Americans, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Better Call Saul. Based on the cast’s reaction, they were just as thrilled to win a second time as they were the first time.
