Justin Hartley added to cast of CBS Films comedy Lexi

This Is Us’ Justin Hartley has been cast in CBS Films’ comedy Lexi with Rose Byrne and Wanda Sykes.

The CBS Films comedy Lexi, helmed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore and starring Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect), has rounded out it’s cast with This Is Us’ Justin Hartley. The movie, which is about what happens when you love your phone obsessively, will also feature Ron Funches (Undateable), Charlyne Yi (Twin Peaks), Michael Pena (Narcos: Mexico), Alexandra Shipp (X-men: Apocalypse), and the just announced Rose Byrne (Instant Family) and Wanda Sykes (Black-ish). Byrne will play a smartphone AI named Lexi who takes her job way too seriously.

“Speaking for everyone perpetually enamored with, and increasingly terrified by, how well their phone knows them, I look forward to this extraordinary group of actors and filmmakers exploring the side effects of too much tech,” said CBS Films President Terry Press. “I think audiences will agree that some romances are better when you disconnect.” I think it would be more accurate to say “all” romances woud be better that way, but who am I to say. In any case, Lexi will definitely be something a bit different from the material Hartley is used to on This Is Us.

Jon Lucas and Scott Moore have collaborated on several hit films, most famously and successfully as co-writers on The Hangover movies. More recently the writers have found success with Bad Moms and A Bad Moms Christmas. Both Justin Hartley and Wanda Sykes previously worked with Lucas and Moore when they appeared in A Bad Moms Christmas and are both perfectly suited to their brand of comedy. If you don’t remember who Hartley played in A Bad Moms Christmas, he was stripper Santa number two. No word yet on who Hartley will be playing in Lexi, but lets hope its something just as outrageous and sexy.
