We’re just days away from This Is Us Season 4 returning to NBC. Catch up on what’s happened so far before the winter premiere.

This Is Us Season 4 has nine episodes in the books so far. The first episode of 2020 is within reach, which means it’s time to reflect on what we have seen thus far. This Is Us has been high on drama since the start, and that did not change in the latter half of 2019. Here’s a breakdown for every member of the Pearson family.

More from Hidden Remote

Jack & Rebecca’s early days

Season 4 has focused on the infant stages of Jack and Rebecca’s relationship during their flashback scenes. Right from the start we were able to see how Jack met Miguel, who of course is now Rebecca’s husband in the present day. Jack struggled through his first dinner with Rebecca’s parents, who made it clear that they don’t support their relationship. This conflict has added a new layer to Jack and Rebecca’s history, allowing for the flashback scenes to explore their struggles and feelings at that time.

This season’s flashback scenes have also revealed Rebecca’s life shortly after losing Jack. She’s had to tackle being a mother to three growing, grieving teenagers all while reentering the workforce. We’ve also caught moments of her and Miguel interacting before establishing their relationship.

Kate & Toby aren’t on the same page

Kate and Toby welcomed their baby boy, Jack Damon, into the world at the end of Season 3. However, as we learned in this season’s opener, baby Jack is blind. This has created new obstacles for Kate and Toby to overcome, leading to new marital problems. Toby has taken up Crossfit as an escapism from work and home. While he’s getting in incredible shape, Kate feels like she’s stuck at home taking care of Jack and has formed a new bond with their disabled neighbor, Gregory. Now, Kate has found concerning messages on Toby’s phone that are raising red flags.

As for baby Jack, Season 4 has shown us flash-forward scenes of him as a grown man with a pregnant fiancée. Hopefully we see more of his story unfold in the weeks to come.

Kevin’s new family

While trying to stay sober, Kevin has taken up the task of practically babysitting his uncle, Nicky Pearson. While attending AA meetings, the pair grew close to Cassidy Sharp, a former Marine who is battling alcoholism and PTSD. Kevin takes it upon himself to become Nicky’s trailer neighbor, all while trying to help Cassidy save her marriage. Despite that, Kevin and Cassidy have shared intimate moments, which will surely be explored this year. Nicky had a huge breakthrough when he met the entire Pearson family during Thanksgiving.

Randall & Beth adjust to life changes

Randall’s family officially moved into their new Philadelphia home, which opened the door for Deja to meet her new boyfriend, Malik. This Is Us fans have fallen in love with the budding romance, while their respective parents aren’t exactly big fans of the pairing partly due to Malik having an infant daughter. Elsewhere, Tess continued to learn how to be her true self while also dealing with anxiety attacks, something that Randall is all too familiar with.

Rebecca’s deteriorating health

We’ve known for some time that Rebecca’s health would eventually decline as she ages. Season 4 began that journey in the present day as we’ve started seeing signs of Rebecca’s memory not being what it used to. Randall was the first of the Big Three to notice it, prompting him to be very concerned. This has caused tension between Randall and Rebecca, but based on advertisements for the midseason premiere, we know that Rebecca will go to the doctor to find out what’s going on.
