Mandy Moore & Chrissy Metz prepare for next steps in their music careers
This Is Us stars Mandy Moore and Chrissy Metz are making moves with their musical careers. Here’s the latest on what they have planned.
Several This Is Us cast members have talent that extend beyond what we see from them as their characters every Tuesday. While Mandy Moore and Chrissy Metz may play a mother and daughter who share the same passion for music, individually they do have musical careers off-screen that are taking them to new heights.
Chrissy Metz to perform at the Oscars
It has now been confirmed that Chrissy Metz will perform at the Academy Awards on Feb. 9. This is because her hit song from Breakthrough, entitled “I’m Standing With You,” received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song! We can’t wait to see Metz perform the hit song live.
And that’s not the only thing that Metz is celebrating as she recently signed a country record deal with Universal Music Group Nashville. Chrissy is no stranger to the country music world either as she has performed live at various televised country music events. She even performed her Breakthrough single at the 2019 ACM Awards with label mates Carrie Underwood, Lauren Alaina, Maddie & Tae, and Mickey Guyton. Check out the performance right here:
Mandy Moore’s new music
Mandy Moore announced earlier this week that her new album, Silver Landings, will be released on Mar. 6. This will be her first album in over ten years and her seventh one overall. In preparation for the album’s release, Moore has dropped a new single entitled, “Save a Little For Yourself,” which focuses on self-care and loving yourself.
Moore had this to say about writing new music:
"“Sometimes writing a song feels like giving myself the advice I know I need the most and it’s often the hardest to heed. It makes the song almost a mantra of sorts — something I know I’ll continue learning because it bears repeating.”"
For those curious if she’ll be going on tour this year, the answer is yes! Moore is expected to travel around North America from Mar. 20 through May 9. You can take a listen to her new track embedded below:
This Is Us comes up short
For those following this year’s Critics’ Choice Awards, This Is Us did unfortunately come up short in their five nominations which featured the likes of Sterling K. Brown, Susan Kelechi Watson, Justin Hartley, and newcomer Asante Blackk.
