What is People We Meet on Vacation about?

As mentioned above, People We Meet on Vacation is based on the 2021 bestselling novel of the same name by Emily Henry.

The story follows the dynamic duo of Poppy and Alex, two best friends since college who couldn't be more different from each other. While Poppy is free-spirited, Alex is more reserved and routine-based. However, they just click and have been friends for many years. Every summer for a decade, Poppy and Alex take a vacation together. These trips have become a cherished tradition filled with laughter and fun. That's until their last trip together when something goes wrong, and the once-close besties are no longer close.

They haven't spoken to each other for two years, and their lives have gone in different directions. However, Poppy finds herself missing Alex, and she proposes one last trip in an attempt to mend their friendship. Alex agrees, and they spend their time on the trip navigating their complicated relationship and exploring their unresolved feelings.

Emily Bader and Tom Blyth star in the leading roles of Poppy and Alex. Bader is best known for starring as Lady Jane Grey in the historical romance series My Lady Jane. She also played the role of Margot in the found footage supernatural horror film Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin. Additionally, you might've watched her in the TV show Charmed and in the drama film Fresh Kills.

Blyth is best known for starring as Coriolanus Snow in the dystopian action film The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. You might also recognize him from his role as Billy the Kid in the Western drama series Billy the Kid. Some of his other roles were in the movies Robin Hood, Scott and Sid and Benediction.

Joining Bader and Blyth in the cast are Sarah Catherine Hook (First Kill, Cruel Intentions, The White Lotus), Jameela Jamil (The Good Place, Love at First Sight), Lucien Laviscount (Emily in Paris), Lukas Gage (You, Dead Boy Detectives), Miles Heizer (13 Reasons Why), Tommy Do (I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, Hacks), Alice Lee (The Union), Alan Ruck (Succession, The Burial), and Molly Shannon (Only Murders in the Building, The Other Two).

The film adaptation is being produced in partnership with Sony Pictures. Brett Haley (Hearts Beat Loud, All the Bright Places, All Together Now) is signed on as director. At the moment, it's unknown who will be writing the screenplay. In addition, Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, and Isaac Klausner are producing, with Laura Quicksilver serving as an executive producer.
