Lights, camera, romance! A24 might be best known for its horror films, but the entertainment company also has some pretty solid romance movies. Take the critically acclaimed romantic thrillerLove Lies Bleedingfor example or the romantic comedyWe Live in Time. A24 has many more romance movies that are either setto be released soonor are currently in the works.
One of the romance films currently in development isThe Drama. We first learned of this movie back in August of 2024 when it was announced that Norwegian film director and screenwriter Kristoffer Borgli would be teaming up with A24 to make it. Borgli and A24 had previously collaborated on the black comedyDream Scenario,which starred Nicolas Cage. Borgli penned the screenplay and also directed the movie, while A24 produced and distributed it.
ForThe Drama, Borgli wrote the script and will direct, with A24 financing and producing. Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and Tyler Campellone will produce via Square Peg. Square Peg has also worked with Borgli and A24 in the past onDream Scenario. It was one of the production companies behind the film.
Unfortunately, plot details aboutThe Dramaare being kept secret at the moment. However, what has been revealed so far is that it will revolve around a couple whose relationship changes drastically before their big day.

So, who's in the cast? Well, two-time Emmy Award-winning actress Zendaya is set to star, andThe Batman's Robert Pattinson will star as well. They will play the couple. Zendaya is best known for starring in the leading role of Rue Bennett in the hit teen drama seriesEuphoria. She also starred as Tashi Duncan in the romantic sports comedy-drama filmChallengers.
Some of her other acting work includes roles in the moviesSpider-Man: Homecoming,The Greatest Showman,Spider-Man: Far From Home,Malcolm & Marie,Dune,Spider-Man: No Way HomeandDune: Part Two. Most people know Pattinson from his role as Edward Cullen in theThe Twilight Sagafilm series. He's also known for starring in the romantic drama filmWater for Elephants, the horror filmThe Lighthouse, the sci-fi thrillerTenetand the psychological thriller filmThe Devil All the Time. One of his most recent roles was starring as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the superhero flickThe Batman.
American musician Alana Haim also joins Zendaya and Pattinson in the cast, with Mamoudou Athie (Kinds of Kindness,Archive 81) in final talks to join. According toThe Hollywood Reporter, production is reportedly set to start in late October.
