Here's everything you need to know about A24's romantic movie The Drama

Lights, camera, romance! A24 might be best known for its horror films, but the entertainment company also has some pretty solid romance movies. Take the critically acclaimed romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding for example or the romantic comedy We Live in Time. A24 has many more romance movies that are either set to be released soon or are currently in the works.

One of the romance films currently in development is The Drama. We first learned of this movie back in August of 2024 when it was announced that Norwegian film director and screenwriter Kristoffer Borgli would be teaming up with A24 to make it. Borgli and A24 had previously collaborated on the black comedy Dream Scenario, which starred Nicolas Cage. Borgli penned the screenplay and also directed the movie, while A24 produced and distributed it.

For The Drama, Borgli wrote the script and will direct, with A24 financing and producing. Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and Tyler Campellone will produce via Square Peg. Square Peg has also worked with Borgli and A24 in the past on Dream Scenario. It was one of the production companies behind the film.

Unfortunately, plot details about The Drama are being kept secret at the moment. However, what has been revealed so far is that it will revolve around a couple whose relationship changes drastically before their big day.

Cast

So, who's in the cast? Well, two-time Emmy Award-winning actress Zendaya is set to star, and The Batman's Robert Pattinson will star as well. They will play the couple. Zendaya is best known for starring in the leading role of Rue Bennett in the hit teen drama series Euphoria. She also starred as Tashi Duncan in the romantic sports comedy-drama film Challengers.

Some of her other acting work includes roles in the movies Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Greatest Showman, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Malcolm & Marie, Dune, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Dune: Part Two. If you've been a fan of hers since she was a teenager, you might've watched her in the Disney Channel shows Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover.

Most people know Pattinson from his role as Edward Cullen in the The Twilight Saga film series. He's also known for starring in the romantic drama film Water for Elephants, the horror film The Lighthouse, the sci-fi thriller Tenet and the psychological thriller film The Devil All the Time. One of his most recent roles was starring as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the superhero flick The Batman.

American musician Alana Haim also joins Zendaya and Pattinson in the cast, with Mamoudou Athie (Kinds of Kindness, Archive 81) in final talks to join. According to The Hollywood Reporter, production is reportedly set to start in late October.
