Kiernan Shipka and Nico Hiraga form a breakup pact in trailer for Sweethearts
This Thanksgiving, Max will be giving its subscribers something cozy to watch. It will be releasing the new romantic comedy Sweethearts, and this movie looks to be a heartwarming and hilarious adventure based on the official trailer. You can take a look at the charming yet funny trailer below!
The rom-com comes from New Line Cinema and Picturestart. Jordan Weiss helmed the film, making it her feature directorial debut. She's best known for creating and producing the short-lived Hulu comedy series Dollface. She also wrote the script for the upcoming fantasy comedy film Freakier Friday. With the help of Dan Brier (Heathers), Weiss also co-wrote the screenplay for Sweethearts.
Picturestart’s Erik Feig and Jessica Switch produced the movie, while Weiss, Brier, Julia Hammer, Samie Kim Falvey, and Shayne Fiske Goldner signed on as executive producers.
The story revolves around two first-year college students and best friends who agree to end their high school relationships during Thanksgiving break, resulting in a wild night out in their hometown that challenges their codependent friendship.
Kiernan Shipka, who many people will recognize as starring as Sabrina Spellman in Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina or as Jamie in Totally Killer, stars as one of the college freshmen in the film. Moxie's Nico Hiraga stars opposite Shipka, playing the other college freshman. Caleb Hearon, Tramell Tillman, Ava Demary, Charlie Hall, Joel Kim Booster, and Christine Taylor join them in the rom-com's cast.
We can't wait to see Shipka and Hiraga's characters try to navigate the tricky waters of ending their high school romances and possibly fall in love. Don’t miss the laughs and heartwarming moments in this delightful movie, coming to Max on Nov. 28, 2024!
