In a surprising move that has fans buzzing, Netflix has officially renewed the romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This for a second season. Why is this renewal a surprise move, you ask? Well, it's a new show, and it just came out on Sept. 26. It's only been two weeks since its release, and Netflix doesn't usually renew its new shows so soon.

However, no one should be totally surprised by its renewal, seeing as though it's been ranked pretty high on Netflix's top 10 TV shows list since its release. I mean, the first season managed to garner 26.2M views in its first 11 days on the platform. Talk about an impressive feat!

Nobody Wants This is a new Netflix original series created and executive produced by Erin Foster. Foster is best known for previously writing for the comedy sitcom The New Normal. She's also known for co-creating the reality television parody series Barely Famous with her sister, Sara Foster. You might also recognize her from her role as Heather in the teen drama series The O.C.

After premiering on Netflix in late September, the rom-com series became an instant hit. Critics and viewers alike enjoyed watching the first season, with many praising the strong performances from the two main leads and their irresistible chemistry.

Nobody Wants This stars Golden Globe nominee Kristen Bell as Joanne, an outspoken agnostic podcast host who meets an adorable yet unconventional newly single rabbi at a party and eventually falls in love with him. However, they soon find their relationship tested by their differing outlooks on life and their meddling families. The O.C.'s Adam Brody stars as the unconventional rabbi, Noah.

Joining Bell and Brody in the season 1 cast are Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, Stephanie Faracy, Tovah Feldshuh, Paul Ben-Victor, Michael Hitchcock, Jackie Tohn, Sherry Cola, Shiloh Bearman, and Emily Arlook.

For the upcoming Nobody Wants This season 2, Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan (Girls) will take over showrunning duties. They will also executive produce alongside Nora Silver, Foster, Bell, Steven Levitan, and Oly Obst. 20th Television is the studio behind the series, which is confirmed to return with its second season sometime in 2025. Along with announcing the show's renewal, Netflix dropped a 34-second video. Check it out below!

Series creator Erin Foster expressed her excitement about the season 2 renewal in a statement via Netflix:

"Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me. The incredible cast, crew, producers, and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed. I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls... Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!"
