There have been some wonderful and not-so-wonderful romances throughout Grey’s Anatomy history. We’re not focusing on the bad, though. We want to jump straight into the seven best romances that the series has had to offer.

We’re heading all the way back to the beginning of the series for this post:

JESSICA CAPSHAW
GREYÕS ANATOMY - ÒBaby Can I Hold YouÓ - Dr. Arizona Robbins returns to Grey Sloan for a particularly complicated case. The interns are interrogated about their past mistakes, while Teddy is eager to return to work after her health scare. THURSDAY, APRIL 4 (9:00-10:01 p.m. EDT) on ABC. Callie and Arizona

Calzona is such a great ship at first. There are so many positives to take from it, whether it’s Arizona’s support for Callie coming out to her parents or Callie’s initial wish to fight for their future together.

However, there were some downright terrible moments between them, which means this is seventh in the ranking. Callie is selfish at times, such as when she is constantly making snarky remarks about leaving. I don’t blame Arizona for telling Callie not to come with her while at the airport. Then there’s Arizona’s reaction when she learns Callie didn’t sit at home and wait for her the whole time.

Relationships do change, but this one changed a little too much. And yet, I still rooted for them to find their way back to each other in the end.

KIM RAVER
GREYÕS ANATOMY - ÒBaby Can I Hold YouÓ - Dr. Arizona Robbins returns to Grey Sloan for a particularly complicated case. The interns are interrogated about their past mistakes, while Teddy is eager to return to work after her health scare. THURSDAY, APRIL 4 (9:00-10:01 p.m. EDT) on ABC. Teddy and Henry

This relationship in Grey’s Anatomy came about in one of the worst ways possible, but it worked. It was insurance fraud at the end of the day, but the two managed to find a way to love one another. In the end, it was a beautiful romance and I was devastated when and how it came to an end.

Henry and Teddy were able to make each other laugh. We could see their love blossom, and they were there for each other through thick and thin. Teddy’s grief in the end was raw, and I love that Kim Raver had the opportunity to play that out despite it meaning the end of this brilliant romance.

CAMILLA LUDDINGTON
GREYÕS ANATOMY - ÒBottle Up and Explode!Ó Ð The Grey Sloan doctors spring into action after an explosion rocks Seattle, with the incoming trauma hitting close to home. Owen experiences PTSD after he hears the explosion, while his sister Megan enlists help from Winston and Hayes in confidence. In Minnesota, Meredith and Amelia meet up with a familiar face who assists in their study on an all-new episode of ÒGreyÕs Anatomy,Ó THURSDAY, NOV. 11 (9:00-10:01 p.m. EST), on ABC. (ABC/Bonnie /

Alex and Jo

You just knew that these two would end up following the enemies-to-lovers type trope in their storyline. They hated each other, especially as they viewed each other’s lives as perfect due to the way they looked now. There is more to the story, though, and we saw the two of them gain an understanding and appreciation for each other.

I’m still mad at how Grey’s did their relationship dirty. The ending is the reason it’s lower down on this list than I’d like. Alex risked his career for Jo and stood by her when she needed him the most. He wouldn’t just leave her to be with Izzy!

ELLEN POMPEO
GREYÕS ANATOMY - ÒNever Felt So AloneÓ - ItÕs all hands on deck at Grey Sloan when a group of medical students is injured by a floor collapsing at their white coat party. Jo and Link are forced to talk about the future, while Jules confronts Winston about his attitude. THURSDAY, APRIL 11 (9:00-10:01 p.m. EDT) on ABC. (Disney/Anne Marie Fox) ELLEN POMPEO /

Derek and Meredith

This is the relationship I’m putting on for you guys. I’m just not behind it, but then again, I’m not a Derek fan. He is so selfish in everything that he does. And yet, it’s the romance that has stood the test of time on Grey’s Anatomy, so it does deserve a place on this list.

Even after Derek’s death, Meredith hasn’t really been able to move on. She has slowly let herself, but it’s taken some understanding from people who didn’t even know Derek. We watched the highs and lows of this relationship, taking us on one hell of a ride.

JAMES PICKENS JR.
GREY'S ANATOMY - "Help Me Through the Night" - Following the car crash at Joe's Bar and subsequent rescue efforts led by the Station 19 firefighters, Grey Sloan doctors work through the night to save the lives of their colleagues. Meanwhile, Amelia worries about sharing her pregnancy revelation with Link. Owen and Teddy take a big step, and Bailey deals with grief over her recent loss when "Grey's Anatomy" returns THURSDAY, JAN. 23 (9:00-10:01 p.m. EST), on ABC. (ABC/Kelsey McNeal) JAMES PICKENS /

Richard and Adele

This relationship was heartbreakingly beautiful. I have no idea how Adele was able to stay with Richard after his affair, but she showed so much grace doing it. It was clear that it was always Adele for Richard despite his downstairs brain wandering now and again.

When Adele ended up with Alzheimer’s, my heart broke for Richard. Not only did it mean bringing up the past now and then, but it meant that Richard was losing the woman he loved. Seeing how that could break him was everything we needed to tell that he loved Adele with everything he had.

Lexie and Sloan

Due to their age gap, this romance should not have worked. And yet it did. Lexie made Sloan realize that he wanted more in a relationship than just sex. Sloan helped Lexi grow up as a person. They were just at different points in life, and that made it hard for them to agree on a future. They were getting there, though, as they realized they wanted each other.

Maybe their love wouldn’t have lasted if they hadn’t died. In the afterlife, there isn’t the topic of children and the future. It puts everything in a status, and it gives us a chance to imagine what could have been in a happy way for them.

CHANDRA WILSON, JASON GEORGE
GREYÕS ANATOMY - "Leave A Light On" - Bailey and Ben face a huge, life-altering decision, while Meredith and several of the doctors reflect on the past on an all-new episode of "Grey's Anatomy," THURSDAY, MARCH 5 (9:00-10:01 p.m. EST), on ABC. (ABC/Gilles Mingasson) CHANDRA WILSON, JASON GEORGE /

Bailey and Ben

Finally, we turn to the only relationship that is still strong in Grey’s Anatomy. I definitely do not count Catherine and Webber as a strong or healthy relationship! Bailey and Ben have been through far more than they should have, and they are still together and in love. They don’t judge each other, but they will have tough conversations when they’re needed.

Ben had been through so many career changes, and it’s been hard on Bailey. And yet, she has stayed true to her vows. At the same time, Ben has supported Bailey when she’s struggled with work and life. And when it comes to taking in children who need them, they have routinely been on the same page, showing they have the same life goals.
