The Netflix original romance is Jonathan Bailey's world, and we're just living in it!

Bailey, who stars as Anthony Bridgerton in Netflix's most popular romantic TV series, Bridgerton, will make an appearance in the new season of another Netflix romantic series, Heartstopper.

Heartstopper season 3 premieres on Netflix on Oct. 3, 2024, so you don't have too long to wait to see Bailey as a new character in a Netflix original series.

Who does Jonathan Bailey play in Heartstopper season 3?

This spring, news broke that Bailey would star in Heartstoppper season 3. Since then, we've learned who Bailey will be playing and we've also seen our first glimpse of Bailey in the new season of the Netflix original series.

Bailey will play Jack Maddox, a social media-famous author who also happens to be Charlie's (Joe Locke) celebrity crush, according to Variety. We don't know exactly how Jack Maddox appears in this story, but we do have an idea.

In the trailer for Heartstopper season 3, Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie meet Jack Maddox at what appears to be a book signing event.

"What can I do for you?" Jack asks Nick, who basically says nothing after stumbling over the words.

As they walk away with the new book, Nick says to Charlie, "Yeah, he's really hot." And, that's the final clip of the trailer. It's not long, but it's enough to get fans super excited about Bailey's role in the series.

You know how YouTube shows you what part of the video is the most-watched or most popular? Well, it looks like Heartstopper, Bridgerton, and Bailey fans are watching that clip of the trailer the most!

At the Met Gala earlier this year, Bailey spoke about why he wanted to be part of this series, via Variety.

"Like so many people, I watched the first [season] and thought it was one of the biggest, most beautiful gifts to so many people, and I wish I had that growing up."

Bailey also shared some insight about how the role came about, according to the report. In this case, it sounds like it just worked out that Bailey had a friend who knew someone who worked on the show. Bailey reached out to Patrick Walters, who is an executive producer on the show, through a mutual friend.

Bailey also mentioned why he thinks the show is so important, according to the report.

"It’s not just for our community. It’s for every person who is a member of a family who has a member of the LGBT+ community. It helps all of us."

We don't know how many episodes Bailey will be a part of. That has not been revealed, but we aren't expecting it to be a season-long role or anything. At best, it's probably going to be an episode or two. We'll have to wait and see in the new season, but we'll definitely let you know what season you can see Bailey in Heartstopper season 3.

And, don't worry too much, Bridgerton fans! It looks like Bailey will be returning to the cast for Bridgerton season 4, according to a report from Deadline. Bailey announced on Good Morning America that there is time blocked off in his filming schedule to return, but he didn't add how much he will be in the new season.

That comes with the territory of being a Bridgerton star, I'm afraid. We've already seen Rege-Jean Page, Phoebe Dynevor, and others seemingly exit the Bridgerton universe for good. It's great that Bailey is finding ways to stick around, but who knows how long that will last as the stories move to other characters.
