Everyone's favorite heartfelt horse romantic drama is back for its -- checks notes! -- 18th season this fall! It's true; Heartland season 18 is officially back, and you'll be able to watch the series on CBC very soon.

There's lots of important information about Heartland season 18 that fans need to know. CBC is doing something different with Heartland season 18 that they haven't done before.

First of all, the cast and crew started filming the new season in May 2024 in and around Calgary, Alberta. According to the Heartland on CBC Facebook, production wrapped at the end of August or the beginning of September.

Heartland season 18 premiere date

The Heartland season 18 premiere was technically released on CBC's streaming service, CBC Gem, in Canada on Sunday, Sept. 29. It's free, so anyone can check out the season premiere right now.

The official premiere date for Heartland season 18 on CBC TV is on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. ET.

Here is the synopsis for the first episode, via CBC Gem:

"When the future of Heartland ranch is threatened, the entire Bartlett-Fleming family will have to buckle down and adapt. But no adversity is too great when you’re united."

There are 10 episodes in Heartland season 18. It's a little bit tricky because it's unclear at this point if the new episodes of Heartland season 18 will be released a week early on CBC Gem, or if they'll eventually match back up with the episode releases on CBC TV.

Your first look at Heartland season 18, via trailer, is here! You can watch nearly three minutes of clips from the new season, and it looks to be an emotional one.

If the trailer for Heartland season 18 is any indication, there's a lot more romance on the way this season, especially between Amy and Nathan. I know that's going to be a huge plus for fans of the series! We're also going to see the Bartlett-Flemings struggle in Heartland season 18, but that comes with the territory of living on a ranch.

"What's it like living and working on a ranch?" Jack asks in the first moments of the trailer. "Well, it ain't easy. I'll tell you that."

Over the course of the near-three-minute trailer, we catch up with many of the main characters. Overall, it looks like it's going to be a great season!

Where to watch Heartland season 18

Right now, you can watch Heartland season 18 on CBC Gem, which is CBC's free streaming service. You should be able to watch the new episodes on CBC Gem all season long.

Additionally, you can watch new episodes of Heartland season 18 on CBC TV at 7 p.m. ET on Sundays throughout the fall.

If you live in the United States, it gets a little bit trickier to watch the new season of Heartland. You'll likely have to wait to watch Heartland season 18 on Up Faith & Family. Luckily, the new season will be added to the streaming service about six or seven months after it comes to an end on CBC.

Right now, you can watch the first 16 seasons of Heartland on Netflix, the first 15 seasons on Prime Video and Freevee, and the first 14 seasons on Hulu in the United States.

Heartland season 17 will eventually make its way to Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video in the US, but it's going to be a while. It'll be at least another six months or so from the time of publishing until season 17 hits Netflix and even longer until it hits Hulu and Prime Video.
