Link found out about Jo's pregnancy in Grey's Anatomy and here's how he reacted

When Jo found out about her pregnancy in the Grey's Anatomy season 20 finale, she wasn't sure how to tell Link. How would he react after they'd already agreed children right now wouldn't be a good idea?

During Grey’s Anatomy season 20, Jo had a pregnancy scare, which opened the door for her and Link to talk about children. While they would both like more children, they agreed that right now wasn’t the best time. Well, pregnancies don’t always happen at the right time, and she found out in the season 20 finale that she is, in fact, pregnant.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Grey’s Anatomy season 21, episode 1.

How was she supposed to tell Link this? She worried about how he was going to react, but the truth had to come out by the end of the episode. She didn’t even need to tell him. He knew from the fact that she wasn’t drinking.

How did Link react to Jo being pregnant in Grey’s Anatomy?

Jo didn’t have to worry about Link’s reaction. As soon as he realized that Jo was pregnant, he smiled and hugged her. This is a good thing for them.

It’s clear that Link and Jo want to have a bigger family. They are both on the same path for family, making their relationship stronger than most others in the series. The only reason the two decided that the timing wasn’t right was due to how early they were in their committed relationship.

Jo and Link have always been close friends. Yet, when Link came into the story, Jo was with Alex Karev. Then Link got with Amelia and was hooked up on her for a while. It took time for Jo and Link to find a rhythm together, initially living together for childcare benefits and then moving on to a friends-with-benefits relationship. It was only a matter of time before that became more serious.

It is scary bringing in a new component to a new relationship. The idea of having a baby with someone you’ve only just started dating isn’t ideal, so it’s not surprising that Jo was on the fence about telling Link. However, Link is one of those guys who steps up. He’s already had an unexpected baby and immediately stepped up there. Of course, he was going to do the same thing for Jo.

Now the two are on the same page in Grey’s Anatomy. However, the series did seem to foreshadow trouble. Levi mentioned potential complications, and it’s almost setting up for a storyline I suggested could happen as a way to bring Arizona Robbins back into the series. Will Jo and Link need to discuss what to do if there are complications or disabilities?

Something that I would love to see is another relationship remain strong. Having disagreements and problems is normal, but let's see another relationship like Bailey and Ben's. We need the reminder of what healthy relationships are like, and if any couple can do that, it's Jo and Link.

Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 10/9c on ABC. Catch up the following day on Hulu.
