One of the best teen romantic drama series returns to Netflix this October
Did Netflix just grant one of our wishes? It appears so because the streamer just announced that Gossip Girl will be making its return to the platform this October! No, we're not talking about the short-lived Max reboot series. Rest in Peace! We're talking about the show that started it all, the OG Gossip Girl, which aired on The CW from 2007 to 2012. It's only one of the best teen romantic drama series ever made!
All six seasons of the beloved series will be released on Netflix on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024. The show had previously streamed on Netflix in the past before being removed in January 2021. Since then, it's streamed on Max. Now, it looks like Netflix has reacquired the streaming rights. It's unclear if the show will still stream on Max once it lands on Netflix. But our guess is that it will.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage developed Gossip Girl, a teen show based on the YA novel series of the same name by Cecily von Ziegesar. The show takes place in the affluent Upper East Side of New York City and follows the lives of a group of privileged teenagers whose private and social lives are monitored by the elusive blogger, Gossip Girl.
Gossip Girl played a significant role in launching the careers of several actors who have become household names due to their performances on the show, such as Blake Lively (It Ends with Us, A Simple Favor), Leighton Meester (The Weekend Away, Single Parents), Penn Badgley (You), Ed Westwick (Me You Madness, White Gold), and Chace Crawford (The Boys, Reunion).
Overall, Gossip Girl is a cultural phenomenon that resonates across generations. No matter how many years have passed since its original airing, it remains a memorable series that continues to resonate with audiences. We can't wait to rewatch this amazing teen series from beginning to end when it returns to Netflix this October!
