Hello, You! It’s almost time to see how Joe Goldberg’s story comes to an end. This anti-romance/toxic love series will wrap up with You season 5 this spring!
Netflix has announced a release date for the final season. We also get a teaser trailer to get an idea of what to expect. What we do know is Joe is heading back to where it all began, leading to a reunion that we all needed.
When will You season 5 head to Netflix?
Netflix shared a date announcement video. You season 5 will make its way to Netflix on Thursday, April 24. It’s described as a “killer finale,” but does that mean Joe will meet his maker, or is he the one still doing the killing?
It looks like this whole season will drop as one. The fourth season was released in two parts, much of many fans’ disappointment. Netflix seems to have learned not to do that again. We need it all in one sitting!
What to expect in You season 5
Penn Badgley’s Joe Goldberg is heading back to where it all began. In the teaser trailer, we see him walking up to the Mooney’s bookstore, where he worked in the first season. This was where he met Becks, and it’s where we started off his story of obsession and murder.
However, he’s not heading back there for a particular person. He’s going back for one particular item: the box that he has kept people in before. This was a box replicated in other seasons, but it built it each time. He didn’t transport the box from Mooneys. Now he’s heading back to the first ever box.
What does this mean? Will he trap someone else inside, or is he going there to end his own life?
We get glimpses of the women he has been obsessed with throughout the seasons, including Becks, Love, and the latest one, Kate. At the end of You season 4, Kate knew what and who Joe was and accepted him for that. However, there was clearly some element of manipulation. She’s not crazy like Love, but she does have some sort of motivation to keep Joe out of trouble and to give him his life back—before he met Kate, he was presumed murdered.
The box at Mooney’s has been a constant for Joe. It makes sense to take the final season back to where it began.
