1 popular romance show returns on Max in November (and 1 new romance movie debuts)

Get ready for a romance-filled November on Max! A beloved romance show is making its return, plus a brand-new romance movie is debuting. It's the perfect month for love on screen!

At the beginning of November, we saw the release of the licensed rom-coms Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009) and He's Just Not That Into You (2009) on Max. In fact, He's Just Not That Into You is currently ranked on Max's top 10 movie list as of Nov. 7. I mean, it's a classic, so we're not surprised.

We also saw the premiere of the HBO original series Like Water for Chocolate on Nov. 3, which tells the love story of star-crossed lovers Tita and Pedro. While we've been enjoying ourselves watching this show and the movies mentioned above, we can't wait until later in the month when Max drops the brand-new third season of The Sex Lives of College Girls and the romantic comedy Sweethearts. This is the romance show and movie that this article is about.

Okay, I know The Sex Lives of College Girls isn't technically a romance show. It's more of a coming-of-age comedy-drama instead. However, romance is a central element in this series and plays an important role in the storylines, with each character having to navigate relationships, love interests, and their evolving views on sex and intimacy. So, I'm considering it as a romance show.

Created by 6x Emmy nominee Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble, The Sex Lives of College Girls follows the lives of four college roommates at a prestigious New England university as they navigate their personal and academic experiences. What makes this show likable by so many people is the way that it offers a comedic yet heartfelt look at the complexities of young adulthood. It's relatable, and people tend to enjoy content that can resonate with them on a personal level.

After a painfully long wait, The Sex Lives of College Girls season 3 will finally premiere with its first episode on Max on Nov. 21, 2024. A new episode will drop every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET until the season finale on Jan. 23, 2025. Like previous seasons, there are a total of 10 episodes in season 3.

The season 3 main cast is made up of Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Alyah Chanelle Scott, Christopher Meyer, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Renika Williams, Gracie Lawrence, and Mia Rodgers. Reneé Rapp (Leighton) was a series regular for the first two seasons but decided to take on a recurring role in the third season.

So, let's talk about Sweethearts. It's a rom-com, and who doesn't love a good rom-com? Max has set its release date for Nov. 28, 2024, so make sure to save the date. Jordan Weiss (Freakier Friday, Dollface) directed the film as well as co-wrote the script with Dan Brier.

It stars Kiernan Shipka (Totally Killer, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and Nico Hiraga (Moxie, Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between) as two college freshmen and best friends who decide to break up with their high school partners during Thanksgiving break. This leads to a wild night out in their hometown, putting their codependent friendship to the test. Also in the cast are Caleb Hearon, Tramell Tillman, Ava Demary, Charlie Hall, Joel Kim Booster, and Christine Taylor.
