Netflix has finally released its first original Christmas romance movie of the year. We're talking about the rom-com Meet Me Next Christmas, and this film is the type of feel-good content we all need at the moment.
It stars Christina Milian as a young woman named Layla. One year ago, just a few days before Christmas, Layla met a charming man named James (Kofi Siriboe) while stuck at the airport. They hit it off right away, and a romantic connection is made. However, they can't act on their feelings because Layla has a boyfriend back at home. James refuses to give up, though. He makes a deal with Layla that they should meet up at the Pentatonix Christmas Eve Concert if they're both single a year later.
Fast forward a year later, and Layla finds herself racing all over New York City with a personal concierge named Teddy to find a ticket to the sold-out Christmas Eve concert so that she can finally be with the man of her dreams. However, as Layla and Teddy spend time together trying to secure a ticket, Layla begins questioning her feelings for him. Could she have caught feelings for Teddy? What about James? Here's how this enchanting holiday romance wraps up.
Spoilers from Meet Me Next Christmas ahead!
Does Layla end up with James?
Nope. Layla thought James was her perfect match since they clicked instantly after meeting at the airport. Then, after she found her boyfriend cheating on her a year later, she thought it was a sign in some way that she and James were meant to be. Remembering they made a deal, she sets off to find a ticket to the Pentatonix Christmas Eve Concert. But along the way, her feelings for him begin to change.
She meets professional concierge Teddy, who is just as charming, and he ultimately sweeps her off her feet. But Layla doesn't realize her feelings for Teddy right away. It's not until they share a passionate kiss after a dance performance. We'll let you know in a minute if Layla and Teddy end up together, but this is how things wrap up for Layla and James. Layla eventually manages to secure a ticket to the Christmas Eve Concert, and as she rushes to the theater, she runs into James outside the building.
She immediately begins talking, telling James how she's found the love of her life but it's not him. She doesn't even let him get a word in before rushing into the theater to confess her love to Teddy. James is left standing outside with a bouquet of flowers. But get this. He wasn't waiting for Layla to arrive. He was waiting for his girlfriend, who was stuck in traffic.
Layla and Teddy get their happily ever after in Meet Me Next Christmas
When they shared a kiss after their dance performance at the Snow Ball, both Layla and Teddy felt a romantic connection. However, they don't get the chance to discuss everything because Roxy and Jordy interrupt their conversation by saying that Pentatonix personally sent Layla a ticket to their Christmas Eve Concert.
Throughout the film, Teddy sends messages to Pentatonix's social media account, asking them to help send a ticket over. After realizing how much Teddy is going through to help Layla out and that he loves her, Pentatonix decides to assist Teddy by giving him a ticket. However, they tell him in a message that in order for him to get the ticket, he must dress up as Santa and perform at their concert.
After arriving at the concert venue, Teddy finds out that the reason why they wanted him to dress up as Santa is so that he can make a grand gesture to win over Layla. After Pentatonix finishes performing, they call for Santa to come down the fake chimney on stage, and Teddy comes sliding down. He then grabs a microphone and speaks to the audience, hoping that Layla is listening.
As Teddy confesses his feelings for her, Layla bursts into the theater and tells him she feels the same way about him. Teddy goes to her, and they share a passionate kiss before Pentatonix asks them to join them on stage for their performance. As Pentatonix sings, Layla and Teddy share another passionate kiss.
So, yes, Layla and Teddy end up together at the end of Meet Me Next Christmas.
