5 reasons Jo and Link need to work out in Grey's Anatomy

Jo and Link are one of those couples to root for right now. Here's why they need to work out in Grey's Anatomy.

There are very few couples in Grey’s Anatomy that go on to succeed. Right now, Ben and Bailey are that couple we know we can rely on. I’d love it if Link and Jo became another.

Jo and Link have been friends forever. They didn’t start dating until recently, and even before that, they were friends and then friends with benefits. Now they have a baby on the way, and we know what that does to a lot of couples in this series.

Here are my five reasons they need to work.

We need another strong couple in Grey’s Anatomy

There’s a lot of pressure on Ben and Bailey. Sure, Teddy and Owen are working out right now, but they have been hit-and-miss for a long time. Even when Ben and Bailey are fighting, you know they are going to work things out. They know how to take time out to solve their own emotions and then come back together to discuss a situation again.

Well, we need another couple to do that. It’s important for TV shows to give us a realistic look at relationships. Couples don’t always agree, but a fight doesn’t have to mean the end of a relationship. Give us a realistic look at that, and show us another strong couple!

Link and Jo were best friends first

There’s a lot to be said for the friends-to-lovers trope. It’s one of those that works because it makes sense. A lot of people who have been married for decades share that their spouse is their best friend. Well, Link and Jo already have that.

They have seen each other at their weakest moments. They know each other’s secrets. There’s so little to hide from each other, and we need to see that being best friends is a great foundation.

They have similar life goals

It’s rare that Grey’s Anatomy offers us a relationship of a compatible couple. There are usually some sort of different life goals in mind, whether it’s one not wanting children or one wanting to work on the other side of the country. Link and Jo are at very similar points in life.

The whole reason I don’t worry too much about the pregnancy storyline is because they both want to be parents. They both also still want to work. There shouldn’t be issues of where they are going in their relationship. It’s what they both want.

Link and Jo respect each other in Grey’s Anatomy

The two work in different parts of the hospital, but that doesn’t mean they can’t come across each other when they are doing work, and we’ve seen that happen. When it comes to medical opinions, they have respected each other when it is related to their own fields.

They also respect each other outside of the workplace. They make sure others respect each other. There is no love without respect, but we see couples try it all the time on this show. Now, show us what happens when that respect is actually there!

They already co-parent so well

One thing with pregnancies is that they can show how difficult it can be to balance parenting styles. Jo and Link have already shown that they can co-parent. They both have children of their own, and they both live together. They juggle their schedules together.

However, there may be a small issue when it comes to parenting a child of their own. We’ve seen them not overstep parenting boundaries with each other’s child, but what about when that child is both of theirs? This is where communication and compromise comes in, and I want to see Grey’s Anatomy show that it is possible. Don’t bring in drama for the sake of it.

Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 10/9c on ABC. Catch up the following day on Hulu.
