5 romance shows we're excited to watch in 2025
There is absolutely no doubt that we’re excited for 2025. A bunch of new romance shows are set to come out. Some of them even have premiere dates, while others have just been promised next year in press releases.
There are different levels of romance. Some of us love steamier, TV-MA-rated dramas, while others want cute teen dramas. The good news is there’s something for everyone on this list! We’ll do this in release date order, starting with the ones that we know have dates for 2025.
XO, Kitty season 2
We have to start with the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before spin-off series. The first season picked up with LJ’s little sister, Kitty, moving to the other side of the world. There she found culture clashes, history, and love. The second season is set to bring more of that, especially as Kitty learns far more about love than she ever thought possible.
Her first kiss was great, but true love isn’t always true love. Kitty is on an adventure of a lifetime, and her world is about to expand.
XO, Kitty season 2 drops on Netflix on Thursday, Jan 16.
Ginny and Georgia season 3
We’ve waited a long time for Ginny and Georgia season 3. Part of that was due to the strike action in 2023. This series was originally slated for the 2024 lineup, but it’s been pushed to 2025. That’s okay; we can wait for good TV, right?
The second season ended with a major cliffhanger. Georgia’s secrets seemed to have all come out. That was until Georgia’s wedding to Paul. Police turned up to arrest Georgia for murder, but is there a way for her to get away with murder the third time? The great thing about season 3 is knowing that we’ve got season 4 coming as well! Now we just need a release date.
You season 5
Okay, this is more anti-romance. It’s a series that tells us what not to do in relationships and what to watch out for. It’s still one of the more highly anticipated shows of 2025. It was originally set for 2024, but due to the strike action in 2023, there were understandable delays in production, so we’re expecting itin 2025 now.
This is the final season. Joe and Kate ended the fourth season with Kate covering a lot for Joe. It looks like she is setting him up for some sort of success in the future, and that means there are sure to be more women who end up in danger. Will that be Bronte, or will it be one of the identical twins, Raegen and Maddie?
Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1
STARZ has promised us that Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1 will arrive in 2025. It’s just not said when, and we’re probably not expecting it until the end of the year. This is the prequel series to Outlander, telling the love stories of Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie and of Henry Beauchamp and Julia Moriston.
The series is all about how the two couples met and fell in love. We know some of the story of Brian and Ellen through Jamie’s stories, but what really happened in 18th century Scotland? Meanwhile, we have no idea about Claire’s parents, and it’s time to get a few tales.
The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3
Okay, technically, this season isn’t confirmed for 2025, but we can pretty much say that it should arrive next year. The second season arrived in 2023 during the writers and actors strike, but it was renewed ahead of time. This would allow for writing and filming to start up as soon as possible, and it should have meant a 2025 release date was easily possible.
The second season ended with Belly choosing Jeremiah over Conrad. The third season, which should follow the third book in Jenny Han’s trilogy, will see Belly and Jeremiah at college. Is the spark still there? What happens when real life catches up on them and they have to grow up? Was Conrad always the better brother for Belly? These are questions the season will need to answers.
