Britt Robertson cast in upcoming holiday rom-com Love Unexpected
Britt Robertson is set to light up the holiday season with her starring role in the upcoming rom-com Love Unexpected, and fans couldn't be more excited! Known for her previous roles in beloved romantic comedies, Robertson's return to the genre is a pleasant surprise.
According to Deadline, Premiere Entertainment Group, a Los Angeles-based film production and sales company, has secured the worldwide rights to the film. The company just recently initiated discussions with potential buyers for the project at the American Film Market in Las Vegas.
Principal photography is reportedly slated to begin on the rom-com sometime in December in the Greater Colorado Springs area. Wendy Faraone (That Girl Lay Lay, Saving Christmas Spirit) will direct from a screenplay co-written by John D. Beck and Ron Hart (Liv and Maddie).
Faraone had previously worked with Beck and Hart on Liv and Maddie, directing some of the show's episodes. Additionally, Persephone Hawkins is producing the project under her company, Pandora Persephone Films, while Elias Axume is serving as the executive producer for Premiere Entertainment.
Only Robertson has been cast so far in Love Unexpected. However, according to Deadline, casting for additional roles is currently underway. Robertson will star in the leading role as a popular social media influencer who, during the holiday season, visits her sister’s family. While there, she steps up to save the Magical Christmas Parade, enlisting the help of her fans and an old flame from her past.
Robertson is known for starring in other romance films such as The First Time, The Longest Ride, Mother's Day, The Space Between Us, I Still Believe and About Fate. She also starred in the TV shows Life Unexpected, The Secret Circle, Girlboss, For the People, Big Sky and The Rookie: Feds. You can see her next in the upcoming Netflix holiday rom-com The Merry Gentlemen, which will be released on the streaming platform on Nov. 20.
Here's what Hawkins had to say about working together with Premiere Entertainment to make this film via Deadline:
"With Love Unexpected, we set out to tell a story that speaks to the beautiful unpredictability of life and love. It’s a celebration of those unexpected connections that change everything. We hope audiences find themselves not only entertained but reminded of the resilience of the human heart. Pandora Persephone Films is excited to be partnering with Premiere Entertainment on this magical Christmas film set against the backdrop of the beautiful Rocky Mountains."
